This is interior of Espoonlahti church. The use of stones in the walls and the way the light is a mixture of natural and artificial light gives the church a cosy atmosphere, in spite of its modern style. The church was built in 1980, designed by Timo and Tuomo Suomalainen, and enlarged in 1997. Built of concrete and stone quarried from the rock on which it was built, the church looks as if it were a part of the rock. Inside, the church is a polygon in shape. The direction has been chosen so that the sunlight reaches and comes in through the windows in the high altar wall during the time of the service. The organ was built by Veikko Virtanen, the leading builder of church organs in our country, and it was taken in use in 1983. The organ has 40 stops, totally 2942 pipes, out of which 20 is of wood.
