The new organ of Espoo Cathedral, which was taken in use 3.6.2012. |
I photographed in August 2014 the new organ of Espoo Cathedral, which was taken in use 3.6.2012. The previous organ was built in the 1960`s. It was decided to build a new one, because it appeared too expensive to repair the old one. The new organ has 42 registers. The design principles of the organ were taken from the middle 1800`s German-romantic tradition represented by Friedrich Ladegast (1818-1905). The facade has been designed by a Swedish architect Ulf Oldaeus. |
