Weather Situation
A high in the Great Australian Bight extends a firm ridge over the state. A
southeasterly wind surge will move north along the east coast for the next few
days. The high will move east and reach the Tasman Sea on Saturday, maintaining
the ridge, and then drift east for the following few days. A weak trough will
extend over western Queensland on Sunday. The trough will deepen slightly and
move east on Monday, crossing the southeast coast and weakening on Tuesday. A
strong high in the Southern Ocean will extend a new ridge over the state in the
wake of the trough. A trough may develop near the southeast coast the following
weekend.
Forecast for the rest of Friday 26 April
Partly cloudy. Medium chance of showers along the coastal fringe, near zero
chance elsewhere. Winds southeasterly 15 to 20 km/h becoming light in the
evening.

chance elsewhere. Light winds becoming southeasterly 20 to 30 km/h in the

tending widespread at times over the Central Coast. The chance of a
thunderstorm in the Torres Strait. Mostly sunny elsewhere. Light to moderate
northeast to southeasterly winds, fresh at times on the east coast. Winds in
the southeast turning south to southeasterly. Maximum temperatures near average
north of Georgetown, below average elsewhere.

Isolated to scattered showers in eastern districts and in the Torres Strait,
tending widespread at times over the Cassowary Coast. The chance of a
thunderstorm in the Torres Strait. Partly cloudy elsewhere. Maximum
temperatures below average in the southeast and far southwest, near average
elsewhere.
